Strange Gadgets, What Is This? I Don't Know What This Is But I Want One!

I want one! I’m not sure what it is or what it does but I need one of these new strange gadgets! I’m sitting in a coffee shop looking at the thing behind the counter, I’m not entirely sure what it is but I want one, I just know its going to look great on my kitchen counter.

It’s kinda um, well it’s hard to describe. Looks a little like a clear ball with rabbit ears, one ear is red and the other is black (matches the kitchen red exactly.) I watch with bated breath as the waitress picks up the thing, the ears fit just so in her hands. She walks over to the sandwich she has just made and squeezes! Pepper is ground effortlessly and falls onto the mixed salad leaves.

The waitress tops the sandwich with another slice of bread and hands the plate to the waiting customer. See! I knew I needed one, how would I ever be able to grind pepper without one.

Whilst looking for the strange gadget, rabbit eared dispenser of ground pepper in the kitchen department of a large store, I came across several other fascinating strange gadgets.

The aliens have finally landed, well they must have been very small aliens but they have finally landed. I had before me a small but perfectly formed tri legged inter galactical spaceship that any self-respecting young hip alien would be proud to own.

I couldn’t see the entry ports or even the engines but the simple flowing lines caught the eye and made it a thing of beauty. At the back of the store a demonstration was happening.

I left the mini aliens to themselves and went to watch. The lady in the black apron had one of the alien ships on her worktop, I wondered if she had even noticed it had landed.

Pancakes! I was being shown how to make pancakes. I watched even though this skill had been taught to me many years ago in my grandmothers’ kitchen.

I have to admit the finished item did look good enough to eat all it needed was a little sugar and some lemon juice, (old habits die hard.) the lady in the black apron was holding up the alien ship in one hand and half a lemon in the other.

As if being shaken by this behemoth wasn’t enough for the poor aliens she then proceeded to firmly squash half a lemon onto the top of the alien ship, turning it slightly in order to get more juice out of it.

The juice flowed down the grooved sides into the waiting cup she had placed underneath. A quick rinse in hot water and the alien ship was sparkling like new.

Now this was a strange gadget I MUST HAVE!

Besides I never did believe in aliens. Hurrying to the paydesk with my new found favourite gadgets I was accosted by a helpful assistant who wanted me to watch her demonstrate the best way to slice a pineapple. (well the best way would be to use a knife surely?

Pineapples where notoriously hard to slice with spoons.) the pineapple was beheaded with a very expensive knife, then the gadget appeared!

Place the gadget over the centre of the pineapple press down and turn as you press. I watched as the thing slid into the pineapples body, turning effortlessly as the plastic blade bit deeper into the tender succulent flesh.

Only a few turns and it was all the way through. As the assistant pulled gently the gadget and ready sliced pineapple came away from the outer shell.

A hollowed out pineapple, (the image stored away as a possible serving dish for a future fruit salad.) what was more exciting was a gadget full of evenly effortlessly sliced pineapple rings, cut into a spiral with the turning blade of my third new best favourite gadget.
